Can you still have surgery if you have a cold(sore throat/heaviness of chest) ?

I am scheduled for surgery on Dec. 12 and as of right now I have a bad cold. My throat is sore and my chest feels sore when I take deep breaths, I am 10 days away and I am afraid this will be a setback. Does anyone know?
