Discharge and bleeding from the navel, pre-op.

I have been experiencing discharge and bleeding (spotty)as well as inflammation and itching from my navel and e-mailed my primary doctor to ask if he thought this could pose a problem with WLS surgery. He responded back by e-mail that this could be "patent urachus" a leftover problem from fetal days?!?! I looked it up on the net, but so far don't hear of any instances of an adult having this....however, it requires surgery to repair. Anyone heard of this?
