Taking IRON supplements Post - Op??

Do you have to take iron supplements post op? How much? My dietician just told me I need to be taking them. My PCP said that my blood work in that area is good and I don't need to. He also said it will irritate my pouch. I am already on potassium supplements that irritate it. Please advise!
