has anyone experienced bad gas pains after surgery?

I am 4 months post op, I stay away from gassy foods, but I have the worst gas pains in the world, I am always burping, but the pain comes right back. I practically live off Gas-X. Do anyone know of anything else that is safe for us to take to relieve gas pain. I had Open Lap. thanks in advance
