What do these tests mean?

I had labs done last week and my doctor has a system where I can go online and see the results of my tests before my next appointment. This is what my blood test last week reads: "CBC NORMAL. RHEUMATOID FACTOR NORMAL. ESR ELEVATED. C-REACTIVE PROTEIN ELEVATED." Does anyone know what an "ESR Elevated" and a "C-REACTIVE PROTEIN ELEVATED" mean? It was a test ordered by my orthopeadic surgeon. Thanks!
