Have anyone ever ask for a later surgery date

I know must people will jump on the first available surgery date but I might have to ask for a later date. My transition is going so smoothly I think I might get a surgery date for December. This sounds wonderful, but it poses a problem. I'm very close to my mom and want her here to be my support person but she told me she can't come until after the holidays. If i get a date for December do you think I will have to wait a long time for another one?
