On my preop diet(highprotein/lowcarb) & so thirsty

and I am so thirsty. I have also started taking the glucosomine/chondroitin for joint and back pain (via drs. orders) instead of my vioxx .But whats causing this thirst? I cant stop drinking and going to the bathroom.
