Does anyone have a high white blood cell count and did it affect your surgery?

My white blood cell count is historically high, but the internist who works with my surgical group wants me to have a new blood test to rule out a UTI. I plan on sending her a note with the results and telling her that I always have a high blood count, it's genetic, my mom and both sisters have it also. I'm just worried that this will somehow prevent me from having surgery. Any feedback will be helpful. Thanks Laura M
