What can I mix my protein powders with?

I've ordered several sample protein shakes through Vitalady.com and I wanted to know what I should mix the powders with? I'm not a huge milk fan but if I had to and it would improve the taste of these disgusting shakes I would do it. I've only tried the lemonade from Vitalady and I mixed it with the lemon Fruit20 water and it didn't taste so great to me. I'm at my wits end trying to find a protein shake that doesn't smell, have a funny texture or leave an aftertaste in my mout. HELP!!!
