Has anyone been denied due to the 5 year rule?
My insurer..Regence Blue Shield Boeing Traditional requires a 5 year hx of being 100 pounds overweight. However, I am short (5'2) and my weight for the last 5 years has been 208-238 (BMI= 37-44). They say they use Minsurance height/weight tables to figure out "ideal weight" however the only tables I can find show ranges... So what are they basing the 100 pounds overweight on? The low end of the range or the middle of the range or the high end of the range? I'm concerned that Regence only looks for 100 pounds overweight and not BMI or co-morbidities. Will I be denied if they think my ideal weight is actually (for example) 115 and 208 is not 100 pounds over that?
