Has anyone else had the experience that UHC changed its policy about pre-determinatio

I contacted UHC today and they said that they no longer do pre-determination. The surgery is covered so when I asked they said to treat it as an approval, but they will review the medical notes after surgery to see what they will pay and what they won't. My surgeon's office did put me on the waiting list, but since the surgery is $35,000.00 I'm a little worried about getting stuck w/ the bill. Has anyone else had this experience.
