How do they test for H.Pylori?

I was told by my Dr.'s office that I need to be tested for this. I have my final pre-op testing tomorrow which is being done at the hospital lab. They didn't say anything about scopes. Is this just a simple blood test. I was told they do the lab work 2 1/2 weeks prior to surgery so you can be treated for this if the test comes back positive. I am so worried that this will come back positive and I'll have to postpone my surgery. I did check in the library but didn't find an answer to my question but did find a lot of responses about it taking weeks and even months to resolve this issue. Thanks in advance for any answers and/or words of encouragment.
