I AM EXTREMELY WORRIED ABOUT BLOOD CLOTS--

I just found out that I have peripheral vascular disease. Does anyone know about this disease? Will it increase my chances of developing a blood clot in my legs? My dr was very vague--he said "it is hard to tell". I intend to ask my surgeon at my pre-op appt. in march, but would appreciate input now from anyone who has or knows about pvd. Thanks!
