Will gulping water stretch our my stomach?

In my post-operative guidelines booklet it says not to gulp water. Why? I am 13 days post-op and can take a big drink of water(2 swallows for 1`mouthfull) will this stretch my pouch? Could I cause a leak by doing this or eating until I am full this early post-op?
