If you have nail fungus will surgery be postponed?

I have a nail infection(or fungus)in 2 fingernails, I have had these for quite some time. They will not clear up. Will this prevent me from having surgery? I saw where someone said their surgery was postponed due to infection in the skin fold so I just wondered. Thanks for answering.
