Female Clothing Sizes

Hi Everyone: Maybe some of you gals can help me with clothing sizes. I see many people on this site who wear a size six and weigh 140, even 150 pounds. Is this possible? I know I would have to weigh about 120 pounds to wear a size six. One of the models on TV said she is 5'9" weighs 125 pounds and wears a size six. Now that makes sense to me. When someone says they wear a size 6, do they mean in everything, jeans included? For myself, my size is what I wear in jeans and a tight fitting dress. I can always fit in a smaller size if the bottom of a dress is an a-line (big hips, lol), but a chinese style dress that is straight and narrow is always a bigger size. Thanks for the information.
