Is it okay to eat soups post-op as a meal? I heard it wasn't!

Sometimes I'll just have some soup for a meal or eat a few bites of a cup of soup & maybe some salad or what ever. Is it okay to eat a little soup with something else or as a meal itself? I heard it wasn't because it's kind of like the water thing. Don't drink water before & after eating. Is this the same thing with soup? Just wondering?
