When can I lift?

How long after a lap RNY do I have to weight before I can pick up 23 lbs or so. It will be hard to stay away from picking up my 9 mo. old grandson for that long. :) Will ask my doctor as well but was wondering how long it took some of you to lift that much after surgery.
