Has anyone had experience with other surgeries post-op RNY?

I have been approved for Hip Replacement surgery the first part of February 2002. I am a little scared and wonder if anyone has experience with anesthesia (sp) and pain control meds after surgery. My RNY was Lap, so I did not experience what full surgery patients do. Any help, advice, or whatever would help calm my nerves. Also, my surgeon knows nothing about RNY. (He does know I've had it and what it involved). Is there much I need to educate him on? Thanks so much.
