Anyone had skin removed ankle to thigh in one surgery? Insurance allows only 1 nite!

My friend is having this skin removed on Friday and now the insurance is saying they'll only pay for one night in the hospital. I told her to check with her doctor asap. She would like to know if anyone else has had this done and what to expect??? Could they walk the next day to go home??? This sounds ridiculous. Who's been there?
