Should I see my PCP about possible Hernia symptoms prior to seeing my surgeon?

I have some (what I think are) symptoms of a H. Hernia, I don't go see my surgeon until April 13, 2000. Should I make an appt. with my PCP first and get any documentation regarding my problems to take along to the surgeon?? Or wait until the surgeon asks "are then any other problems?" "HELP!"
