Neurontin?

Does anyone take "Neurontin" (ghabapentin)(sp.?) as a post-op for back pain? It is actually an anti-seizure med. that is prescribed for chronic pain. It works for me pre-op but am now off it temporarily until after surgery (May 1st) My question is, Can you open up the capsule and is it effective that way? Anyone else taking this post-op?? Thanks for any input on this~
