I also have recovered from my relapse... and now am within reach.
I am so close to goal....
HOW close...
Well sister.... go into your kitchen and drag out that 3lb. can of Crisco.
I have less than that to lose to get where I'm going!!!

to give you a real VISUAL.... of what I've lost already... speaking in terms of CRISCO....
THAT WOULD BE....
50 CANS of CRISCO!!!

YIKES!
This is so normal. For the 1st 6 weeks I was dropping 5 pounds a day but I was so remorseful. Did I do the right? Why did I do this? I was grieving the loss of food. I had some bumps in the road as my surgeon told me not to worry. But to me he was crazy because I was like woe is me. What did I do??!!
No one could console me. And like one of the posters said I could not tell anyone because my family was not for me having the surgery anyways. They supported me but they were passive. I had other friends and family supporters, but not my immediate family. I knew my Mom was supportive but she did not want to go against my Dad -- who was dead set against it. So who could I talk to. No one because they would have said I told you so.
So I cried a many of days. I an emotional wreck and I was not in much pain physically. I was in emotional pain. I was going thru the motions but I was very depressed.
When it was time for me to go to work, and back out into the world, I realized-- I had lost weight. My clothes were already TOO BIG! When did I lose weight? I could not find anything to fit me right for work in just 2 months. That is when I came out of my FOG. That is when I realized I had did the right thing for me and a healthier life.
So Whatachief as many before me have stated this will pass. it is different for everyone but we mourn for a minute and then we have that moment we realize we did make the right decision. That the complications we had was worth the pain, it was worth the worry, IT was worth it. When you look back to these days you will wonder why you were so sad.
Just be patient, again this time will pass. I promise you it will. I like what JEllen said about post-parturm depression. It will pass and you will LOVE your new tool because it will help you reach for your dreams and meet your goals.
Your the best and hang in there. It is a moment and will pass as a twinkle in the night.

Patience - unhealthy habits will take time to overcome, so do beat yourself if it takes time and many relapses to overcome them.
Positive - thinking and attitudes.
After my relapse in June, I have now recovered. I re-lost the 12 pounds I gained in June. I keep in mind perfection is not the key, consistency is the key. I am so happy to have recovered. I did so with your help and my determination to get back on track. I kept repeating my new motto - The 3 P's. I am now officially losing again. I am at my lowest weight this year. It is only a little but I will take it because I am not gaining.
Now that I have learned my lesson form the last six weeks, I am ready to keep going and be consistent until I reach the dreaded plateau or reach my goals and milestones.
This month my goal is to lose 10 pounds. I with do this by being consistent with food most days and exercising most days also--no less than 5 days of exercise per week.

Shield yourself from your triggers.
Are there trigger foods that get you every single time? All you have to do is smell them, or see them, and the next thing you know you're licking your fingers and savoring the lingering flavor. If you're like most WLS patients, though, you find that other than the fleeting moment of bliss you experience as you bite into the trigger food, you feel disappointed in yourself. And fear of completely losing control sets in. Why can't you resist that temptation?
It doesn't matter why. Food is tempting, and certain foods are nearly irresistible. So what can you do? Shield your senses from the most alluring foods. If you don't see it, and you can't smell it, you are much less likely to eat it. Create a safety zone in which you do not have to see, smell, and resist trigger foods all the time.
Action for the day: Choose a trigger food that has been enticing you recently. Remove it from your house today. If you think this will be difficult for you, enlist the help of a trusted friend. Have him or her come over and help you get rid of the trigger food.
