WLS Success-through Powerful Positive Attitudes

of course, summer has been slow on the site but that's because everyone is out and about getting healthy.... once the cooler weather comes along I'm sure the pace around here will pick up!
Again... Congrats on year # 2!!!!!
I had the fobi pouch, gastric bypass 10/28/09. I am currently 22 years young, and I've lost 235 pounds so far. When I was 21 I weighed in at 441 pounds. I'm only 5'9" (bmi was 65). I had diabetes and even on my medication, my systolic blood pressure spiked up to the 190's. Having gastric bypass has saved my life; there's no doubt I would have croaked by now if it weren't for wls. I was packing on weight like there was no tomorrow. My "last supper" lasted three months, in which I gained the last 50 pounds.
Today I have become free from my binging and my addiction to food,. I never thought I would be given a second chance at life, and I never imagined that I could ever be healthy, happy and free from my obsession for food. My obsession for food was so strong that I felt completely hopeless of it ever letting go. I never want to forget the pain and misery I went through from being so young and so ill. I don't take anything I have today for granted. I want to connect with more people who have gone through this life saving process.
Now that I am healthy and happy, I feel the need to connect with other wls friends more than I ever needed too before.I feel the need to share the good emotions I feel today.
All the best to you, Yehuda Groden
PS: I'm working on the avatar. I'm just not a techno genius, so I'm trying to figure out how to make the picture to fit the formatting rules. Below I will post my current before and after video, in which I show some of the few pictures I have during the years that I gained my weight, and what I'm like now.

My husband and I were looking at my before picture and took a picture yesterday to mark my two year anniversary. It is amazing how much you change. You don't even look like the same person.
Work has been really crazy these past few months; but hope to get back online more and be more involved.
Thank you all again for everything; without support you cannot do it alone - I know from experience.

2. Think positive thoughts - want to feel and be healthy and happy again.
Ha I could say Yield is my word of the day... but I have to repeat it to myself very often... especially when I'm driving and those maniac drivers TAKE the right of way when it's my turn... (doesn't anyone READ the driver's manual anymore when they get their license?
it is the FIRST car to reach the intersection..
If both arrive at same time ... the car on the RIGHT has the RIGHT of way. (NOT the car that is to YOUR RIGHT... by 3 spaces... that would make it the car on your LEFT!)duh!
ok I gotta calm down...
I'm gonna go yield now..
I'm yielding the forum to anyone else who cares to post...
bye bye happy happy joy joy....
Sorry to learn that you will be having hip surgery but at least it will be so much easier for them NOW!!! and your recouperation & physical therapy will be much better as well! (well they don't have an icon with a bench press.. so this will have to do)
Don't stress about the weight loss. You are doing great.
Of course, with being laid up for a while you may want to cut back a bit just a few days a week- IF you want to lose more. Try not to let the scale creep back up.... (friends may want to make you well by using the same ole ways.... your favorite cake/ cookies/ pie... those DON'T HEAL US- contrary to belief!!! they only give us Grief!!!! )
it's tough because you need the protein for healing... bu****ch those carbs. Make sure you take your vitamins!
Please update us again when you are able.
On the weight loss front I have been staying about the same. I am no longer obese, I am just merely overweight. This will sound funny to someone who has been little all their life but I am thrilled to be 'overweight'. I have never liked the word obese especially when it was sitting beside the word 'morbidly'.
The big news for this month is that I am having hip replacement surgery on August 30Th. I am more nervous about this than I was with the RNY. But it is all good.
I'm am sorry I haven't had time to post lately. This is the cool discussion group, because everyone is so nice and supportive.
Daily Inspiration for August 18, 2010
Yield.
There's a saying that ought to be taught to all driver's education students--the right of way cannot be taken, it can only be given. It really doesn't matter if you had the right of way to that intersection. If the other driver has no intention of yielding, the only thing you'll accomplish by pulling ahead is a dented fender at best and a totaled car and injuries at worst.
That's good advice in other areas of life as well. Some people are not well-meaning, and will do everything in their power to draw you into a fight. They may have disagreed with your choice to get WLS. They may want to undermine your efforts to maintain a healthy WLS lifestyle. Whatever their motives, learn to recognize them. And once you do, learn to walk away from any ensuing arguments. They don't want to negotiate; they just want to fight. Taking them up on that will only lead to bruised feelings.
Action for the day: Think about the people you encounter on a regular basis who are always trying to draw you into arguments. Begin to develop strategies for avoiding these conflicts, whether by changing the subject or even walking away.
