I signed up today for Walk Across Texas.  Walk Across Texas is where you keep track of the miles that you walk.  The challenge is for 8 weeks it starts Today on Sunday September 19 and goes until November 13. The goal is to walk from the Texas/Louisiana Border to El Paso and then back to the start. There is a total of 830 miles from the Texas/Louisiana Border to El Paso and the  goal is to walk at least 100 miles or more in the 8 week time frame.  You can get a prize like a t-shirt,ball cap, fanny pack or water bottle. The miles are to be considered fitness miles above your normal, daily routine. I signed up alone, but am hopeing that we will both be able to do this together.  If you are interested, please let me know and I can setup a team - must be a team of atleast 8 and we could call it WLS Success.

Welcome Cheryl!
Wow, I didn't know they did many open's anymore so I feel more at home because that's what I had so hello "open" sister!  I'd love to have you here as your OH home.  You live in a place that I dream of where I can have that many animals.  Of course if I had a place where I could have that many I'd probably fill that up too!  You soud like a wonderful giving lady and we are glad you landed here.  I see JEllen has already jumped in (as she so often does) she is AWESOME!   So welcome, welcome, welcome!!
hugs, Y

Welcome Cheryl!!!

It is always nice to have new people joining us here!

At times things are bit slow here... but we are trying to encourage more of the membership to feel at ease asking questions without having the fear of humilation.  So.... feel free to post often and enjoy the site!

Yvonne is over 9 years out from her surgery, and I have passed my 1st year.... So I guess that makes me a "Toddler" now...at 14 months lol

Congrats on your surgery!

White-knuckle it if you have to.

Making healthy choices just isn't going to be easy all the time. Some days you will find yourself eating the broccoli; other days you will be craving the chocolate. On the days when food thoughts are pushing you in the wrong direction, consider white-knuckling it through the craving.

When you white-knuckle your way through something, it's uncomfortable. But, you can handle some discomfort, right? And while white-knuckling it is not the preferred method for long-term recovery, it is a vital tool to pull you through when you need it.

Action for the day: If you find yourself drawn to an unhealthy food or to overeating, pull out the tool of white-knuckling. It can get you through.

Hello Everyone!!!!
I have loved reading the intros, it will take me several sessions to read them all but I'll get there.
I am 6 months out from my RNY surgery (open). I'm doing really well and am so pleased with my decision to reach for hope instead of dwelling in despair!
I am looking for an OH Home. My regular board has kind of fizzled and I really miss the friendship there, I need it.
I am a married lady (22 years) have three fantastic children (a sophomore in college, boy; a senior in HS, boy; and an 8th grader, girl). I live on a small farm in rural Missouri, where we host 6 dogs, 2 cows, numerous cats and a variety of animals that call our place home from time to time. Oh, and a mother in law.
I work 4 days a week at my chuch in the office, I love to teach and lead groups. My hubby and I have led mission trips for 10+ years.
Looking forward to getting to know you all!
