Great quote to share about tomorrow being a new day!

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Start each day with a new positive attitude!!

I will be there with four terrific friends... our goal has been

get healthy! so while we aren't planning on "Placing"

our plan is to FINISH...

I hope I can avoid any reoccurance of the shin splints that I had during my over zealous training earlier this summer. THE PAIN was incredible.

We are as ready as we are going to be...

I just think of the "little engine that could" I think I can....
I think I can... I think I can....

Somewhere online there will be a live feed of the race- of course with over 20,000 participants it is highly unlikely that you will see me... but i'll be there...

Topic: RE: Still Feeling A Little Weak
oh yeah Johnnyb.... try to remember to move slowly when you bend over.... our equilibrium takes a hit post op.  Just today I was talking with a friend who had her surgery just a little ahead of you and she is experiencing the same thing.

Also remember our poor bodies are accustomed to carrying around all that extra weight and having to compensate by leaning backward slightly to hold ourselves erect. I can;t even begin to think of the physics required to constantly adjust to our years of Yo-yo dieting.

It is an issue of BALANCE.

If we to get on a motorcycle and go through a curve... we have to lean.
If you are in a canoe and everyone suddenly leans one way... someone needs to lean back otherwise... SPLASH.

Our poor bodies are confused with our weight loss... so accustomed to leaning back... we don't know how to stand. All this of course, is done automatically... but the brain takes a bit to catch up.

I'm finally recognizing myself if I pass by  a mirror... for a while I would be shocked and think ...
WHO is that?

All of it is a big adjustment... we learn as we go...
take your time... enjoy the journey...

Topic: RE: What are your goals for the next 1 or 2 months?
Molly,

Thanks for the message.  I really have not thought about anything about following the directions my doctor and dietitian have given me.  So, with that in mind, this is my plan for the next month.

*  Eat everything on my special meal plan....the one given me by my dietitian
*  Exercise at least 30 minutes each day
*  Pray a lot!
*  Keep on communicating with my new friends on OH...to stay connected and accountible
*  Communicate my feelings with my family members so that I don't have urges to eat
*  Take the ruslts as they come
*  Communicate any out of the ordinary symptoms to my doctor or nurse

That is it for this month.  So far, most everything is prescribed...down to every morsel that I eat.  So, my next set of goals will include making good eating choices.

Blessings to you all!

Topic: Still Feeling A Little Weak
I am a little less than two months post op (RNY) and I am still feeling a little weak at the end of the day.  I am eating everything I am told to by my dietitian.  When I bend over to pick up something (like a golf ball) I can feel dizzy and a bit light-headed.  I am getting regular exercise and have lost about 65 lbs so far, but I was wondering if those of you who have been through this before have any experience with this.  I am thrilled with my weight loss so far and am going to keep on till I reach my goal weight.

Any words of wisdom?

Thanks Guys...

I asked to have my GB removed at the time of surgery but my surgeon would not do it at the same time as the RNY. I knew I had the stones for gosh sakes. I even gave him the unofficial ultrasound picture I took of my GB while getting ready for the RNY but he said a month before or a month after not during. Well I ended up waiting quite a few months to build up my time at work so I could take off again and I stayed local and had it at the hospital I worked at. All In all It was the best timing. Still no pain meds and healing pretty good. I just wished the incisions would stop itching.LOL
I'm getting my pictures together to start on my scrapbook album. I hope to get quite a few pages done before I go back to work.

Hope everyone has a great week...Hang in there if you are struggling because we all do from time to time but a healthy and happy life is so worth the fight
