Balance is one of the most difficult things to master!!!

Unlike other issues that many people have trouble with:

Alcoholism- Drug Addiction- Smoking.... these things CAN be entirely eliminated (not that it is EASY to do so....)

Food Addictions must be CONTROLLED- but since it is impossible to entirely eliminate the NEED for Food... We must learn balance and as  you stated PERSEVERE.

Some days will be better than others...
Get back on track and continue with forward movement in our ongoing weight challenges.

Much like a sailboat does not travel in a straight line... It zigs & zags to catch the prevaling winds and move it forward... without being blown off course. THAT forward movement is controlled by constant adjustments.

So we need to be vigilant - as many have said....
100 pounds gone forever....
maybe not...

Not if we allow ourselves to blown off course...

So.... Persevere in making those constant little adjustments!!!

Topic: Plateau?
I have been sitting at the same weight for over a week now between 248 - 247.  I am not anxious about this, but wanted to know if any of you have experienced the same thing.  Up to this point, I have lost significant lbs each week.  I am on track with my eating, and I have tuned up my exercise.  It is strange to me that I have not lost at least 5 or so lbs this week considering my intake and exercise level.  I am wondering if anyone else has gone through a similar patch of time with nothing showing up on the scale.

Thanks,

JB

JB-

Fun goals, I LOVE it.. What a great way for motivation and who doesn't like to have fun???  I have vision of someone in skiing attire from head to foot, those fun funky glasses and then there is the lodge atmosphere with a wood burning fire place... How stinking fun..

Good luck and I can't wait to hear about the trip and see pictures.. :)

Anyone else out there want to set a FUN goal??

Topic: Small Bites Daily Inspiration to share! Persevere...
I want to take some lines from a small bites daily inspiration:

Persevere. Some days you wake up feeling tired or distracted. You just don’t have the time or energy to follow your WLS regimen at that moment. So you skip breakfast, ore eat that slice of cold pizza that you righteously avoided the night before. Days of discouragement shouldn’t surprise you. They are reminders that food will always be complicated- either a discomfort or a distraction.
The key to real change is perseverance. When you take a misstep, for whatever reason, know that you will continue to persevere in your WLS recovery. You will start over at the next meal – you will overcome the temptation next time. That is how you’ll succeed. Being perfect just isn’t going to happen. SO persevere. Action for the day: No matter where you are in your recovery, today you will persevere. Start over every time you stray from your plan. Start over as often as necessary. ** Don’t give up! Keep coming back, share your struggles and successes** Big hugs ((((     ))))

Weight Loss Surgery Support: Daily Inspiration for October 17, 2010 Katie Jay, MSW

Have a "wacky-day plan."

Life is not always predictable. You wear a new fall sweater to work and the temperature climbs to 80 degrees. You plan a weekend away, and you get the flu. For WLS patients, unexpected events can ruin a good plan for the day. For example, you get delayed by a client, and by the time you finally get home you are so hungry you choose a quick, refined carbohydrate to eat.

When you get hit with a wacky day, have in place a "wacky day plan" so you don't get off track. For example, some people keep the fixings for a protein drink in their car for emergency situations.

Action for the day: Make a "wacky-day plan." What will you do to protect your healthy way of life when something unpredictable happens?

Topic: Came Home this past Monday from BALTIMORE HALF-Marathon!!!

The 4 of us gals walked it and we all finished within the allotted time.
Actually we finished a half hour faster than we planned.. so  to each of TEAM WALK members!

ah ... but then I came home....

my little kitty was very sick. We had to take her to the vet and have her put to sleep. It's been a horrible week.

Now I'm sick. Sinus', laryngitis, headache, slight temp.

I feel like I've been run over by a train.

Going to bed early.

One of these days I WILL post photos of the race.. but for now I must go collapse....

Topic: Setting a Goal - Motivation
I have found that it is the little things that help me over the motivational hump.  I  used to say to myself...I am too tired, I am too fat, I am too busy to exercise or start something new.  I have learned to trick myself and started to set fun goals for myself that gives me motivation to do the "daily grind".  I used to snow ski a lot when I was teen and in my early twenties.  I have set a goal to get in shape enough to ski this Christmas up in Lake Tahoe.  Now, I am motivated to go on the elliptical, treadmill, weights...etc, because I want to have a fun time on the slopes with my wife and kids.

So, I am now starting to set fun goals for myself and looking for the results.
