Topic: My 6 year WLS anniversary!!!
Wow it has been six years since I had WLS!!  10/26/2004 I had weight loss surgery and it changed my life forever.  It flew by so quickly and what a journey it has been.   I have managed to keep off over 200 pounds and I will lose another 140 pounds within the next 2 years.

This year since March I have lost 33 of 80 pounds gained over the last 3 years.  I am so proud of this accomplishment.  It has not been easy and has taken great effort to persevere.  This will be the 1st year in 3 years that I have not gained weight.  Whoohooo!!

I love taking this time to reflect because at times I get discouraged because I wanted that number to be higher.  But on days like today I see that 33 pounds down is SO much better than gaining.

This is just one of the very best gifts I could have given ME.

Thanks again for support this year as I continue my journey to get healthier and make permanent lifestyle changes.

Have a great day!

JB..first of all..great job with your consistent weight loss. I can't say if I have had a plateau or not because I don't weigh myself at home..my surgeon told me not to buy a scale and to let them weigh me at the office. I can go in anytime I want and be weighed I don't have to have an appointment. Maybe you should throw that scale in the closet for a few weeks??? Make sure you are looking at your big picture and not just your weekly loss..I know that is hard to do sometimes because we really need to see that weekly loss..but it sounds like you are doing fantastic and now is not the time to even think about getting frustrated. Keep up the great work :) Katie

So I went to see the surgeon today for my one year check up..and everything was perfect :) I am a little low on my protein...gotta take that up a notch..BAM!..lol..and we have to have blood work done to check my B12 again..but all is well otherwise..I have lost 145 pounds from my highest weight..I am so excited!!! This number just blows me away..and the pictures speak for themselves. I hope to get them posted on here soon so that you can all see the difference a year has made in my life. I just got a part time job this last week and will be standing and running around on my shifts..I could never have done that a year ago carrying around all the extra pounds. Hubby has lost 106 pounds and is doing great as well. I am so grateful to have this site to come to and my support groups..thanks to all who comment and give me feedback too..Hugs..Katie ..started at 386..today 241.5 :) was a size 30..now a size 18-20

Just got back from a 2 day business trip to San Diego.  It was beautiful, but didn't get to really enjoy it; but I did make a point to walk twice while I was there.   And it was great!!!  Yesterday Morning the moon was full and shining over the water and boats.

I Thank God every day for being with me on this WLS journey and that I am now able to see the little things - like the moon shining over the water - as I am running and walking for over an hour with my little iPod.  God is Good!

My doctor suggested that I change up my cardio and weight training periodically, since our bodies get use to what we are doing; and make sure I was drinking half my body weight in oz in water every day.  This helped me to have continual weight lost and reach my goal this year.
