Hi Sharon and welcome to what I think is the best group on OH. You won't be told everything you are doing wrong, instead your will be offered ideas on solutions. I also think some of the smartest and most 'successful'  people are in this group.

I think ms Redd gave some excellent advice about writing it down, and some of the online places will break it down in percentages etc like fitday.com. I have chosen to not use the word 'diet' any longer. It's completly psycological semantics but I 'failed' at every diet I ever tried so now I refer to my food selection and daily intake as healthy choices.  I also try to make my mantra's positive, like instead of "i don't want to get fat" I say "I will stay trim and healthy". My Newest Mantra (by help of Yvonne) is Get Movin......

My Dear Yvonne you are so right! It's movement, all these months off I have allowed myself to become a non moving person, the less I move, the less I desire to move. I had total hip replacement and have a bad back but I can no longer let that be my excuse.  I just keep letting myself put it off.

The last time I had my labs drawn (a few months back) they were great. I am very good at getting my vitamins in. I'm a vitamin Nazi, just ask DH....lol.

Thanks everyone!   Today I did take the 12's back to get the jeans in a 10... I was doubtful... but they DID FIT... zipped & snapped... oh ok both pairs are a blended denim stretch.... but don't most of us a bit older ladies prefer those? the 4-6 tops also a bit stretchy but there is NO WAY those sizes would have stretched to cover half of me before!!! 

This is a great feeling! 

BTW-- something happened to my power last night knocked out everything. haven't been online till just now - and now I have to dash out.. so.... I'll look forward to visiting with y'all later...

What are you doing to move?  I also totally believe in the magic of anti-depressants but at some point I decided the same thing.  I'm trying very hard to not take them.  I started yoga and was shocked at the difference.  The next thing I heard was about a study that said that exercise can be as effective as medication.  The thing with yoga is there is something for everyone.  Abby Lentz has a beginner yoga DVD.  It's called Heavyweight  Yoga 2.  www.heartfeltyoga.com.  Yoga is like slow dancing with yourself....almost like doing something so loving for your body, add some music and it's awesome.  I am often asked if I "work out" and it's just yoga. Here I am in the morning going through some very simple moves that not only keep me fit but keep my range of motion in good shape so I don't stiffen up and not be able to move as I get older.



If you bend over and touch your toes every morning, you'll be able to do it forever unless you end up with an injury to your back.  I had back surgery for 2 ruptured discs i***** at 260 pounds and can now bend like a pretzel.  It didn't happen overnight but if you get Abby's DVD, you'll see a woman of size that can bend like a pretzel too.  It is so important to love what you do as far as exercise.  You can do it at home or a class but I'm not fond of the people that crank up the temperature because that can be dangerous.  It gives me that personal time to start the day with an attitude adjustment and filling up that glass to be half full instead of half empty.  You might be surprised how much energy you'll get back when you start using your body.  Also make sure your labs are OK.  Are you taking vitamins???  That's a whole 'nother rant.  We have so many people that need vitamins and they think they feel O****il it's too late.

You can buy all kinds of books and it's called Polymer clay.  Once you get the thing formed you put it in the oven for the recommended time (depending on the thickness) and then after cooling it's totally hard.  You can paint it and all kinds of things.  Check out this link with all these books:

For instance here's a simple one.


You get a tiny flower pot. It's about 3 inches high. There's a couple of cotton patches on the side and a bow on the kitty's head.  The whiskers are wire.  The lady bugs are red and black clay with wire antennae.  You can make some of the most beautiful jewelry and it's not as hard as it looks.  I looked around and found a little you tube video that shows you how to make butterflies.

I'm sure there are TONS of videos.  They talk about Fimo clay which is just another type.  I've made earrings and even something that looks like jade.  Please let me know if I can help!  I also did the flowers that are in this tiny vase.
