Way to go JEllen :) You should not only be happy but very proud of yourself for doing such a great job. It is hard to look at things long term but you have done that and you will be happier and healthier for it. I am working on getting more active right now and I am finding it hard to do. You have inspired me to keep trying and to focus on my goal. Keep up the great work and thank you for the reminder to keep on going..Hugs

Honeymoon over on to "Marriage" 2-21-10

Alright... not to confuse anyone.... I am married and will be celebrating our 35th anniversary this year. That is not what I'm talking about.

I'm speaking of the weight-loss honeymoon being over... and moving on into settling down to weight-loss "Marriage." This is the part of weight-loss they may have lost a bit of the excitement & luster of the honeymoon stage... but the time and effort of long term investment in ones self is worth the commitment.

Just because someone no longer loses 5 lbs in a week regularly- doesn't mean the scale isn't moving in the right direction. It's vacation versus being back home & back to work.
Honeymoon versus Real married life. Marriage is work. If something has value- we are willing to work for it.

We put up with the minor annoyances- brush them off and look for the good in our relationship. So... instead of focusing on what is wrong with us and the scale- it becomes time to look at what we have already invested in our weight-loss efforts. We can realize what we have accomplished is of great value and is worth the effort to continue applying the same principles to our daily life. In time the scale will move and we will get closer to our goal weight.  No reason to be discouraged for long... FOCUS....
the goal is in sight!

I did it. It worked.... this week I focused much more and the result is I have lost 3lbs!
I may not make my Feb 23rd goal. However, I know I will reach my goal at the latest by my 1 year anniversary. So I am very very happy!

yeah..what JEllen said! lol..congrats on making such a wonderful trip for yourself. I would love to see a pic of you in that sparkly dress :) I am a huge fan of all things blingy. It sounds like you have your brain in the right place to be getting ready for surgery and that is one of the hardest things to do..so way to go girl! Surgery doesn't change your brain..best advice I ever got..but it does change your waistline :)  Thank you for sharing your positive expirence and goodluck with your interview on Monday..Hugs

I love it when someone reads a post and really thinks it out.  You are right to not forget.  Forgetting (I believe) is one of the things that happens most to those that lose their way.  I tell them to please journal their feelings so they can remember how it was and not forget.  You can do things right now to assure you never, ever forget sweetie.  Use it to be grateful for what is coming in your future.  When we fail to be grateful, we start reverting to the old ways.
Bless your heart.
Hugs, Y

WOO HOO!

it's the DAWN of a NEW DAY for DAWN!!!

so glad you had a nice time and were able to focus on all the positive things- that is an amazing accomplishment! (especially- for those of us who haven't done that in a long time!!!)

your apprehension regarding surgery is a good sign that you are aware that there ARE risks. Just remember... there are also RISKS in doing NOTHING about our HIGH weight along with all the co-morbidities.
Also- shortly after surgery you may feel ... "what in the world have I done to myself???"  this is also a common feeling.

Thankfully, that passes as you start to see the scale move IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION and you begin to FEEL SO MUCH BETTER!

hang in there.... YOU CAN DO IT!
