It's funny the only thing I missed about the hospital was the bed ...well and the morphine pump even though they forgot to get it for me and I was without any pain meds for 8 hours.   Long horrible story that I can't remember if I told.  I hope the rolling out or the cane grab worked for you.  I got pretty ingenious when I needed help getting up.

I'm soooooooo glad you said that about the drain because I can quote you now.  I always hate it when you go in expecting the drain to hurt and it just makes it worse I think.  Mine was a weird sensation too...and it sounded like something from Star Trek!

I wish however that you had not had to go through the other stuff.  Bless you sweet heart. I too had to do that packing thing for plastic surgery...well my husband had to even do some of that packing stuff.  I'm so sorry it didn't get you numb but you're right....you are past that bump in the road.  You got that right about not flinching when someone has scissors inside your body!  Get lots of rest sweetie...it's all going to get better from here.
hugs, Y

OK, just typed this long post and it went away.  I said how great the analogy was about the "now what?" and turning it into the marriage. Brilliant!  I've heard so many say...
no more losing 5 pounds at a time?
no more smaller jeans?
no more woooo hoooooo moments?

No, you live.  Life is life and I ask myself would I rather have some struggles in life at 260 pounds or 130?  I think we all know the answer.  That's really why I stress about writing down those things that we would give anything to do and not forgetting how badly we wanted them.    Every day is precious.  The date you put at the beginning of your post is also a notable date to one of our members.  She had just given of herself selfishly and driven one of our other members to have her surgery and 2 weeks later her son was in an accident and died.  He was in his early 20's.  Sometimes we don't know how great we have it until something is taken away....forever.

JEllen you are such a smart insightful woman and we are so lucky to have you and I especially love it when someone just "gets it".  You're awesome and I'm looking for you to stick around as long as I am lucky enough to have you here girlfriend!

Wonderful post and THANKS for keeping it real!!

Yep-you painted a perfect picture of the "now what" phase. Now-we live. Now-it is not ALL about the food and weight. Now is about living. We all come to a moment when we realize just HOW much time we spent on things being about THE FOOD and THE WEIGHT. We are little toddlers striking out in the big world to see what we can find and see how things work.

Loved your post! And congrats!

Peace,

You have been on my mind!! Welcome home!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. I am SOOO very happy that you did this trip YOUR way and that you got a chance to see yourself and where you are today in a new light-a more compassionate light. I do think that it is the compassion you give to yourself that you give to others as well!!

YAY on you! I will be awaiting the interview news!!

I'm sooo glad you made the trip. I can't count how many happy experiences I  cheated myself out of because I ws concerned with how others saw me. I would always scan the room to see how many skinny minnies are around and never just let go and have fun. That will change no matter what size I am because I am tired of cheating not only myself but my family out of the fun times we could have. Life is too short to keep thinking only if or when I get to such and such size I will.....
The time is now. I have to worry less what others say or do and enjoy the now.

Thanks for the lesson Dawn

HI!  I've been meaning to tell you...

I LOVE your tiara! and.. You have such a great smile!  (probably because you feel great with that Tiara sparkling away!!!)

I'm glad you find my posts encouraging.  We all have had such difficult roads it is sometimes hard to focus on the positive. But - I've learned something over the years ... something a friend shared with me years ago.  there is a Spanish expression- which I can't spell... but it basically means: MY TRANSLATION... fake it till you make it! lol

WEll... i did say that is my translation.... it is much better than that.
I will have to ask a friend for the spelling & translation!

I used to think that if I did that I would be a FRAUD.
or a hypocrite somehow. I feel miserable so I'm not going to smile...
You ask me how I am....
I'm gonna tell ya!
I feel awful- blah blah blah...

but... that doesn't help turn things around.

Smile.... and it starts a wonderful chain of events
that brings JOY right back to where it started!

Well, my dear, I must get off of here and get going about my day...
Hava GREAT DAY!!!

Judy
