Keep your chin up Suzy!!! This is just a little speed bump in your journey to WLS. You have such a great attitude about this and that is something you should be proud of. I know the waiting is the hardest part..you can hold on girl..I know you can :)

Topic: Hypo Help..... Please.

Hi All.   I need some ideas on what to do here. The last few days I've been having a hell of a time keeping my Blood Sugar up. I had hypoglycemia before my wls but nothing like it is now. The past two or three days I've hardley been able to keep it at 80 even.  I've never actually past out, but yesterday right in the middle of helping a customer I thought I was going down. I excused myself for a moment and ran into the office and scarfed down a half of an apple (I take them to work peeled, cored and cut in half, the core center I add whipped cream cheese to as an added fat)  It helped.  But this is really getting miserable. The worst is I am usually not even hungry, and end up having to eat anyway.  If anyone has any suggests I would love to hear them.  I have to say though I don't want to have to eat every two hours or something. If I have to I will do that of course, but I would love to have other solutions.

Thank you &

Be Well

Well, Clara, the insurance coordinator at the surgeon's office is Awesome!!  She's on top of things and has already filed the appeal.  And included my surgery date so that hopefully they won't drag it out he 30 days that they usually.  But if they do, oh well.  I've waited THIS long - a few more weeks won't kill me.  but damn.  It's annoying ya know??

Thanks for the crossed fingers..I need them!!!!!!

Well FiddleSticks!!!!  But Suzy Good for you for moving Forward and not using this as an excuse to feel sorry for yourself!!!

I know you didn't ask for it, but I would like to offer you my input. Try to talk to this woman. Become her friend, see what it is she really wants from you & your docors. Let her know you as a person, take away the annonimity. So when she makes it difficult, she really does know who it is she is making it difficult on.  My Fingers are crossed my friend.

"Sugar is one of the most addictive substances on earth and it has no redeeming values."

No truer words have been spoken. I have read in more than one Study that Sugar is the basis of ALL addictions.

I know with out a doubt it is a very strong addiction of mine! When DH started his chemo this summer the first thing he went for was of course Sugar and Carbs. For two reasons. 1. He felt like crap and sugar gives us that 'quick fix' 2. The damn doctor told him : "Eat what you can to get in the calories" OMG!! So it took me a while to convince him to look at what all the sugar and carbs was doing to him. Now He looks better than anyone on this treatment!! The Docs are amazed, but can WE convince them that it is Nutrition related.....

PS Yvonne my darling the cello is my all time favorite instrument!  Have you posted yourself playing anywhere?

oh for pete sakes.  BCN denied me today because they didn't like one of the documents sent over to them.  Seems we got one of the "tougher" reviewers.(insert sarcasm here)  "Well of course we did.  Nothing can ever be easy now, can it"?

so, I have an appt with my PCP today to see if he will write something new for me to please Miss Hardass Review Lady at BCN.  Cross your fingers for me folks.

Sweetie, I will continue to talk about toxic shame and how it just kills us.  The reason you can't do it is because our body goes into starvation mode and fights like hell to return us to the size we were.  A doctor did a study with prisoners and tried to feed them a lot of food to see if they could make them obese.  They fed them as much as they could eat and some gained and some didn't gain at all.  We have different metabolisms and we probably all started out with crappy ones already but we damage them even more when we starve ouselves.  We have a disease and that doesn't mean that we just give up and say I can't help myself but we can learn how to deal with it and getting rid of shame is a great start.  Get ready, you'll hear me say this over and over.
Stop shame/blame/guilt and judgment.  Concentrate on the things we are grateful for because our attitude is totally up to us!  The great thing is that you are no stranger to working out so you should be an awesome candidate!!

So glad you're here!  I'm looking forward to much more!
hugs, Y
