Do the next right thing.

Maybe you haven't scheduled your next follow-up appointment with your WLS surgeon. Or, if you have a band, perhaps you have put off getting the next fill. Maybe you're so busy you have not taken time to connect with your partner or your child.

If you take some time to sit quietly and meditate on what your soul values, you will know what you need to do now. Your life is moving forward fast. Stay focused on moving forward by doing the next right thing today. Support the person you are becoming by attending to your soul.

Action for the day: Designate a place in your home that is your thinking spot. It must be someplace where you can shut out the world for a little while. Spend five minutes there today checking in with your soul. What is the next right thing you will do?

Learn the difference between snacking and grazing.
Snacking and grazing are not the same thing. Snacking has a healthy purpose. You snack because you need a short supply of energy for your body. A snack is planned, including the quality of the food you eat, the quantity, and the time of day. Grazing has no purpose other than to manage emotions or soothe your boredom.

An honest self-assessment should help you determine whether you are snacking or grazing, but if you're not sure ask your nutritionist. Most WLS patients struggle with the urge to graze from time to time, or even most of the time. You can learn strategies to curb grazing, including determining what, if any, planned snack you may need to include in your eating plan. If you are struggling, don't keep it a secret. Ask someone you trust to help you develop the strategies that will work for you.

Action for the day: Start a food diary today and keep it for three days. Write down what you ate, the time and quantity, and what you were feeling when you ate. Bring this with you the next time you see your nutritionist, and start to explore solutions to your grazing problem.

Be willing to go to any lengths.

It's not uncommon for a WLS patient to say, "I know I should do that, but I just can't." Drinking water is one such example. Success involves being willing to go to any lengths to achieve your goals. Going to any lengths means doing something you need to do, whether you want to or not, until you have a change of heart and want to do it.

If you can't handle plain water, put mint leaves or cucumber in a jug to flavor it. If you're too busy to drink water, prepare four 16 oz. servings and drink one on the way to work, one during the morning, one during the afternoon, and one on the way home. Use things you do regularly (like driving to and from work) as triggers to drink your water. To say you "can't" is often saying you "won't." Is that how you want to approach this new life you've been given?

Action for the day: Pick one area in your WLS lifestyle in which you can improve. Today, make the change you need to make, and resolve to keep doing it until you want to do it.

I think given today's insurance company's - I would not be happy until I had a written letter which specifically stated that you were approved and they have authorized  a specific procedure , time frame  - etc.

Otherwise - it is not really an authorization or guaranty of coverage...

Interesting Words for a Sunday morning!
It made me think about all the wasted  TIME, energy, money, emotions that I spend on:

Worring about what to wear to an event well before accepting an invitation,
Worring about what to wear to work for business meetings- and if I can close the blazer!
Worring about holidays, vacations, special events
Worring about sweating off my makeup
Worring if there are flights of stairs I have to make with others listening and watching me huff and puff
Worring about if I look fatter in certain clothes - certain colors -
Worring that I have my period _so my bra and pants are not going to fit
Worring about making sure my laundry does mistakenly get into the family laundry basket or it will be shrunk in the dryer!
Trying on 500 outfits before settling on one - on any given day!
Having 5 sizes of clothes in my closet - but none that I can wear
Shopping for hours and a ton of stores just to find one pair of black pants that will fit me right,
Shopping online for big girl clothes
The many hours I spend returning, returning and returning all the items that do not fit!
Worring about my daughters getting heavier and turning out like me...:(
And recently the worring and thinking about gastric bypass - should I do it? and how can I not?!

So....Can you imagine the time and energy I would have for myself, my family, my job and for others if my weight did not have to be the focus of everything I did?  !!!
Truly something to think about.....
