Nope - I didn't have to lose anything (thank god, because my head just wasn't in the right frame of mind for me to have had to have done that.)  I Just had to do the 6 months of consecutive visits/ weigh ins.

Isn't it interesting that your letter arrived on my 9 year surgiversary?  I can't tell you how happy I am for you.  I knew it was coming, you deserve it and now you'll get it.  I want you to save your post so you can always remember how great this feeling is.  It is exactly what helps me stay where I am.  Now I can say
WOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

hugs, Y

I Love it Too!! It's so much fun. I'm really not that tall, 5'6" but these little ladies were quite petite.

Yes Indeed! When the blood sugar hits the 40's it really is awful!! I feel that the "Reactive Hypoglycemia" is more of a new concept. When I had my surgery which was only 3 years ago,  I never heard anything about RH or even just hypo at all.  I've actually been doing pretty good with it lately. I think the lowest I've had was a 67. Just low enough to be uncomfortable but not dangerous.  I've been testing my blood sugar A LOT. Especially about a 1/2 hour after I eat. If it's high (over 180)  then I know it's going to drop pretty low in about 2 hours, so just before then I eat something, a carb and a protein.  I do find that doing this has me eating more times a day than I am used to, so I just eat smaller amounts at each sitting. If my blood sugar does not go way up then I prolly won't have to worry about it.

I also bought some glucose gel, the pack came with 3 tubes so I have one next to my bed, one in my purse and one in the cubboard. So if it should get really bad I do have a 'quick fix'.

You are so right about the necessity of more discussion in the bariatric community by both patients and their medical providers

My Dear Katie Please read the ingredients on those protein bars, they put lots of hidden "Sugars" in those bars. Take a Look at that Awesome poster that Yvonne Made about the 40 ways to say sugar.

Honestly I am not sure what I will do if they do tell me to gain weight, I just don't feel like that is an option. If I have to add certain things into my diet that add a pound or two , well ok, but to actually attempt weight gain, Yikes.

So maybe I should look at cutting down on my BP meds, the only thing is they really help with my headaches.

Willowly.... You're so cute. Keep in mind I did say these ladies were mature which for me is 80-100 years old, so bless their little hearts they were only about 4'11" each so at 5'6" I prolly DID look a bit 'Willowly' lol.

Willow was my Nana's name.

Thank You my Dear Y for the link.   I am still on Atenelol.  My pcp cut me from 50 to 25.  I recently tried cutting back but the atenelol helps keep my headaches in  check (headaches are not wls related).

Topic: RE: NEW MEMBERS! Help Introduce Yourself!
My name is April and I am new to this group. Molly recommended that join, and I am glad she did.   I have been trying to become a more positive person, and I think this group may be very helpful.  My husband and I have been married for 6 years.   He just got back from Iraq and is having a hard time adjusting to life as civilian again.   We are currently separated because of some issues.   I am trying to live a peaceful life and allow him time to heal. However, it is affecting our children.  We have three children. The oldest two are 6 and 11, and we got custody of them right after we were married, so this has really affected them.   We also have a biological daughter. I don’t normally distinguish between adopted and biological, but it helps to understand why two of them are having a harder time than the other one.    I actually got upset with the census because I had to tell the difference on my children, and it shouldn’t matter. I had WLS on September 9, 2009 and have lost 92 pounds in the past six months.   My kids and I exercise almost daily at the YMCA, and they are really embracing my new lifestyle.   My husband thinks I am self-centered and vain, and that no one could tell if I didn’t them I had lost 90 pounds.   He is so insecure and I am not sure why. I had his full support until it got scheduled.  My WLS journey was a quick one, as I went to my seminar and had surgery less than two months later.   I wasn’t sure what the purpose of it being so smooth was until recently.   I found a lump under my arm. They are running tests on it. My doctor said I wouldn’t have found it, if I had not lost the weight.   I am hoping for the best, but prepared for the worst.   Right now, I am at peace with whatever the outcome is.  I look forward to getting to know the people of this group.
