Daily Inspiration for April 3, 2010
Journey toward total health.
When the soul is troubled, the body suffers one way or another. You will be whole when you find serenity within. Work toward an inner peace, a quiet strength. Strive to accept those things you cannot change.
As you journey, choose to love your life and yourself at a deeper level. Take comfort in the fact that your WLS has set your endeavor in motion. You are getting healthier physically and mentally. By finding joy in each success, you nurture your soul as well as your body.
Action for the day: Today, choose to love your life. Reflect on how you can find peace through loving acceptance. For example, you can love your career for the people you work with, what you do, what you produce, or just because it provides the resources to do what you want to do.

But the truly disturbing part for me, given my family history for heart attacks at an early age, we decided to go through a preop stress test. I am TERRIFIED. My mother had a heart attack during a stress test and she was a year older than I am now. I know that I have to go through this to get surgery and that surgery will make me less likely to have a heart attack but, I am so scared of the test.....

My daughter asked me if the bunny was just someone in a Halloween costume. It broke my heart that she is losing the innocence. She is only 4. I am sure the other kids at pre school are all abuzz with it.

Strike back.
Decadent desserts grace the covers of magazines in the checkout lane, not to mention the array of candy displayed there. Everything is super-sized, and tantalizing smells fill the air. We are encouraged to eat seconds, and how can we pass on dessert? And what about the well-meaning person who declares, "One bite won't hurt."
Yes, it will! The world will try to sabotage your efforts. From the spouse that leaves food lying around the house to the person pushing samples at the grocery store, you are under attack. Your armor is your resolve, and your mouth is your sword. When the saboteur strikes, strike back with these powerful words: "No, thank you."
Action for the day: Develop a strategy to deal with the abundance of food surrounding you--write it down in your journal. Make some guidelines by which you can sustain your new life. Review them often.
