Topic: OT-A good animal rescue by me!
My reputation of animal rescue is well known by all the neighbors.  They call me the "cat whisperer".  This morning I answer the door and one of the neighbors hands me a shoebox and says it's a bird that's hurt and they wanted to save it.  I think...great....my experience with birds that are easy enough to catch are usually too sick to save.  I got my little cage and go in the bathroom to see the damage and it's a beautiful Cedar Waxwing.    BEAUTIFUL bird.  I think it was just stunned or in shock from maybe hitting something while flying.  I was ecstatic that after about an hour that it seemed OK.  I took it to a very safe place and at first it couldn't fly but then after sitting on my finger for a bit it flew off to a tree.  YEA!!!!!!!

Hey Anne!!
So glad you're here!! I totally understand what you mean.  Please feel free to pass the word.  This is a safe haven and you've got a long time vet (me!) and pre-ops and newly post-ops and post-ops that are back on track and all kinds of people.  I so relate to the bad karma thing.  I had enough of that after 30 years of obesity and now it's time to live!  Be happy!  Practice an attitude of gratitude and help support others that may be going through a tough time.  AND if you are living by a lake, I'm so wanting to do be right there!
WELCOME!!!

p.s. Did someone post about the group or was it in their signature? I'd love to know!

I was afraid to write anything on the main board for months!  I did learn a lot though from the level headed vets.  However, I also learned that some old timers (not the level headed ones) can be very judgmental towards newer members and hyper critical to boot.  I did post one statement a couple of weeks ago (my first initiation of a discussion ever) and received an unprecedented 24 positive supportive comments; well, all supportive, but some suggesting I handle the situation in what I would call a negative manner that just perpetuates bad karma in the world.
I just saw this site today through a friends posting.
What a relief to write from the heart without intending to offend anyone and know I won't get jumped on anyway

Topic: RE: Respect yourself
Here, here!
I am especially reminded by your words of a young women I know who bases her self worth on the presence or absence of a boyfriend.  When alone, her self esteem plummets and she wallows in self loathing.  This saddens me because as you are stating above being yourself with self respect has to come first and foremost.  I also agree that when someone puts you down they are attempting to elevate themselves; I don't think we do this on a conscious level.  I ask myself if I am gossiping in a perhaps negative way, am I somehow trying to make myself look better?
It is difficult to live up to our own ideals all the time but well worth the challenge.
Appreciated your posting.

I'm soooooooooooo impressed!!! I have heard for years about people feeling high from running.  I used to WISH for that!!  I know I feel better when I do yoga but I've always wanted to be one of those people that get that endorphin rush from running!  It's sort of like when people do yoga in really hot rooms.  I told them that I love yoga and love the serenity and how it makes my body feel and look but sweating my butt off is the least serene thing I can imagine!  I do my yoga in cool weather or in an air-conditioned room.  Different strokes for different folks you know?  I'm so proud of you!!!  Probably day after tomorrow you won't be able to do anything but type but just get back on that horse girlfriend!  (well the bike).  JEllen you continue to be the most awesome example of someone that's taken the bull by the horns after surgery.  You're definitely a WLS Success poster child!

Yup... this board is like getting in a nice hot tub and saying... "Ahhhhh" a place for our weary bones... and minds to relax and not worry about name calling and nastiness...

Mind you we still talk about our concerns- but it's with the idea of looking for positive assistance in dealing with whatever issue we may be having.

So glad you found us... Come back after your surgery and let us assist you however we can. make sure you keep us posted to your progress!
congrats on making it this far!

Soon I'll be 9 months out... it just doesn't seem possible... but what a great year it has been... may this year be at the very least equally so for you!

Topic: I've been up since 4:30 am!
A friend sent a text message yesterday asking if anyone wanted to join her for a 5:15am SPIN CLASS at the gym where she is a member.
I said... Hey I'd like to try that! (another friend is the instructor)...
So... silly me...

I set my alarm and GOT UP at 4:30... and went off to the gym...
I kept spinning for the entire 45minutes.
Mind you I wasn't able to do all the standing on pedals- & alternating the resistance to simulate HILLS... but I did keep spinning.

VERY glad I had tied my bandana around my forehead.. YIKES... sweaty. and the towel for the handlebars for my sweaty palms...

there was a couple of times I thought ...
I'M NOT GOING TO MAKE IT

but I just would slow my pace for a few minutes then pick it up again.
I survived....

Let me tell you the best part....

I FELT REALLY REALLY GOOD after.
and that exercise HIGH.. stayed with me for many hours after that intense workout.
HMmmmm...

Yes that is why I like a morning workout rather than an evening one!

Yippee for getting up with the chickens! Bagawk!

ok... i'm ready to collapse now... but i have a smile on my face!
