Daily Inspiration for April 5, 2011
Take control.
Are you in control of your life or does addiction, in one form or another, control you? When you are in control, you can decide to stop an unwanted behavior, and there is little consequence. It's a simple decision.
If you have trouble stopping your behavior, and you can't seem to get it out of your mind, you may be facing an addiction. You may find yourself obsessing, or even suffering withdrawal symptoms (such as nervousness, sweating, or excessive anxiety). When you experience withdrawal, you have crossed a line. You are not in control anymore. If you get to that point, you must seek out help.
Action for the day: Evaluate if you are obsessing about something. Decide who will be in control--you or your obsession. If you need help, get it.

This is a question you will have to find the answers to yourself. I am here for you for support but you have to dig those demons out and figure out why you are hanging on to the extra pounds you use for protection.
I know you can do it but it will be hard work. Mental and head work is always harder than the physical trials we face.

I just want to take a moment to introduce myself... My name is Lindsey, I am from rural Iowa, and I am a brand new member!
I am 2 years post-op RNY and have lost approximately 180 pounds to date. I have been a part of the OH community since 2009, when I had surgery. At one time I "lived" on OH, but in the past year or so haven't been online quite as regularly, as I once was, due to work commitments. I was previously a part of a smaller close-knit group on OH that disbanned several months ago. The title of this group really drew me in and I'm excited to join in with everyone!! Thanks for letting me be a part of the journey!!
