Topic: RE: Struggling or Growing??
I am a work in progress.  I am learning to grow.  Right now I am struggling with goals to grow.  I just thought this was so deep and moved me to think about myself and my struggles with obesity.  It is time for me to be a grower.  To leave the struggle stage.  I am not sure if I will ever not struggle with this problem, but I still want to grow even more where I can find so lice with myself and my struggles if this makes any sense. I just wanted to share this with my OH family.

When you feel yourself struggling with something, then the time has come to grow beyond it. Effort and persistence can bring much value to any endeavor. Yet trying too hard, to the point where the effort becomes a constant struggle, brings nothing positive.

Struggle means it is time to grow, to go far beyond your previous limitations, to set new and expanded expectations for yourself. When you feel that something has become a struggle, see it as an opportunity. See it as a pointer showing you the direction in which to grow, and use it as a powerful motivation to do so.

Fighting the same fight over and over will just make you skilled at fighting. At some point it becomes time to develop some new skills, and to take your efforts to a whole new level.

What is it that you're struggling with? Instead of looking for ways to maintain your end of the struggle, consider how you could get to the point where you are beyond the need to struggle. Look for how you can stop struggling and start growing.

Don't worry about being tired and sore... just get the rest you need and you'll be feeling much better really soon! I'm 3 weeks out and can get the protein drinks done... but getting the extra ounces in water is still giving me fits.

I also love to read success stories! It's wonderful that you feel so well, and I congratulate you on your success, although I had to giggle just a bit on your 4th success... that's the FIRST place I lose weight... and they're gone! :-/ Oh well... thankfully my husband doesn't really care that much if they are! LOL

Having a hug from your child, husband or grandchild that goes "all the way around" sounds wonderful, I can't wait to get there too!

Topic: Cat Talk....OT
I posted before that the morning of my surgery I found my beloved cat "Kitty" deceased on the floor in laundy room.  I was a MESS - and I haven't really had the chane to mourn him.  Well, the last couple of days I have been feeling sad and really missing him

So today - this cat shows up in the neighborhood with the EXACT same coloring and markings as my cat.  He was across the street skulking around.  I walked over and he came right up to me.  Meowed. Rubbed on m legs.  I scooped him up.  The kids came out.  Well we all are in love.  I mean I know he might belong to someone and I have called the police station to see if anyone reported a lost cat (it's a small city) .....he seems so well care for.  We would love to keep him around and see if we can locate his owners.  however, my dh won't hear of it.

10 yrs ago I had to beg him to let me take in "Kitty"...he was straying around and was sickly.  I put ad in the paper - called local vets - police advertising that I had found him.  NO one claimed him.  So he stayed and was MY cat.

Here is a link to a pic of the cat today:   www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php

UPDATE - cat's owner came over to see if he was a bother.  He just lives a few houses down across the street.  She just got him a week ago - so that's why I have not seen him before.  I wanted to tell her she should keep him INSIDE...but I am going to Mind my own business.  My kitty was inside - never let him out.  Too many bad things can happen to them.

Weight Loss Surgery Daily Inspiration For May 1, 2010

Stay current.

You may be sick of reading up on the topics of WLS, nutrition, and exercise. But, continuing your education in these areas is important. Research on those topics is ongoing. New discoveries are being made daily; for example, unexpected vitamin deficiencies recently were discovered in some WLS patients.

Each phase of your recovery has its own problems and pitfalls. It's easy to get into the mindset that you know it all and become less vigilant about your health. Staying current on WLS-related topics only reinforces the good habits you have already mastered and introduces you to possible new ways to maintain your success.

Action for the day: Look up something new about WLS or research a question you have yet to answer.

Topic: NINE MONTHS OUT
I posted this on the Ontario forum this morning but thought I would share my joy with you as well.

Today is the 9 month mark for me.   Some have lost faster, some have lost slower but I thought I would share what has changed in my life in 9 months.

First,
95.4 pounds gone forever...  whoooot whoooot

Second
55 inches lost forever....that is 4.58 feet!!!!   That is tall enough to be an eight year old!  Shocking!

Third
From a 22 bottom to a 12 or 14  - mostly 14 but it depends on the company

Fourth
From a 3X top to an X - my chest shrinkage has been rather slow so tops fitting over the boobage is a challenge.

Fifth - activity again
I can ride a bike, I can walk for hours, I can dance without every muscle aching for days afterward, I can run and play soccer with the kids, and I am pretty much pain free.

Regrets -
Not a One

Favourite Wow -
my kids can hug me all the way around - heavenly!!!
