She updates on her blog - maybe you can check that out.  She is still leaking but otherwise hanging in there.

I had a less than great week too.  I have been letting too many "fun" foods in.  Today I was going to turn over a new leaf.  Did great for so long - at lunch, did not have the bread with the sandwhich that was served at our meeting - just the meat and cheese.  Did not have the thick greasy (tasty) chips they make in the cafeteria, passed the cookie plate on without taking one, and when they brought a special treat - a box of DOVE icecream bars - I didn't take oneI was so glad too when I read on the box that each bar was 330 calories!!  At dinner - another meeting - I brought my own food which was some steak.  The steak was wonderful.  I really wanted the dessert treats but again did not eat one.  However, I then auditioned for a community theater production and when 5 of us went out afterward - I agreed to share a pizza.  I had one thick piece but really didn't want to give in to pizza this week.  Sigh.   I need to decide that helping the group finance a pizza isn't a job I can take on!  I think  "I should help" but then I sabotage my own goals.  ENOUGH.  STOP IT ME!
I can't believe the number of times in one day we sometimes have to fight temptations.
Just want you to know Kim - your getting on this site and reminding me that failure is not an option is much appreciated.

Welcome Roxie.  I notice your staring point and goal are similar to mine.  Always nice to find a fellow "short person" - of course that is just a guess based on your tracker.
I hope I do as well as you have!  Thanks for being here.

I wonder why it is sometimes hard to be happy for others success?  Their success shouldn't make us feel any less valuable or capable - but sometimes it does.

Topic: Sharing with the Main Board, hope I got it right
A main board topic showed up today - "responding to hurtful remarks" - a member discussed a friend wanting to leave the site because of hurtful comments.  I added to the thread these words:
I agree with your posting Herc. I think diverse opinions, experiences and outlooks enrich this site as well.
On those days when someone needs a sense of greater safety when posting (maybe their skin just isn't so thick that day, their mind not ready for exchanging barbs) they might consider joining and posting here:
http://www.obesityhelp.com/group/yvonnegroup/  This is an OH group focused on positive support.
One day after reading an especially intense exchange on the main forum which I would describe as demeaning, acidic and corrosive I thought I would be unable to share without fear of being attacked!   It was shortly thereafter the OH group "Weight Loss through Positive Support" showed up on my radar.  This group is certainly not as rich because it is not as well populated but there are times when it is just a relief to go to.  I have been hesitant to start a discussion topic here but would never hesitate on that site.  I still like to read the main forum for the incredible amount of information that can be found and inspiration.
Fellow WLS Success-though Powerful Positive Attitudes members -
I hope no one will take offense that I remarked this group is not as "rich" - I meant that NOT with respect to depth of knowledge, support, friendship, etc. but only with regard to the number and hence variety of people involved.  I hope by bringing this group to the forefront on a pertinent thread of the main board to increase the number of positive attitude folks who come here.
Also, apologies for not getting the full title of the group right (missed the Powerful Positive Attitudes" - I couldn't leave my note to check without losing the note - .  I think folks who select the link though will know they found the right place.  I feel like I did.  I'll get it right next time.   At least I know no one on this site will jump all over me angrily --recognizing only good intentions!!!

I have said that same thing so many times.  When you can find the joy in other's accomplishments it really shows how much we have grown personally.  It is so sad when we view the world as "well what about me? why didn't I win that?" instead of congratulating the person that won.  I so want to see the beauty in everything around me because I spent too many years in the darkness.  Thanks for sharing Molly!
hugs, Y

Turn a negative into a positive.

Many WLS patients have such a poor self-image they spend their time looking for flaws in those around them: The thin saleswoman has a crooked nose&your rich friend's children are badly behaved...your pretty sister has awful hair.

But consider this: If you do not find the beauty in everything, praise people genuinely for their accomplishments, and wish good will on others, how can you expect to learn to love and accept yourself? When you are a person who always has a kind word, can always see beauty, and is genuinely happy for another's success, then you will see the beauty in yourself. You will know joy.

Action for the day: Today, notice your thoughts and judgments. Whenever you have a critical thought, replace it with a loving thought.
