Hey, how cool that you and your spouse have had the surgery so close together. Talk about a bonding experience and a way to stay on track.
Welcome to this group and I look forward to your posts.

I used to eat only the toppings but the plump golden crusts call out to me - "eat me I'm just too delicious and you know you have earned me".
So, I'm thinking I have to just stay away from the whole darn piece.
I love having lost weight. That feels so good.
I don't completely deny myself either - but recently I was giving in to just one too many treats.
Yes, let's have some shrimp ****tail!

I think it is very interesting that you at times won't even walk down the cracker isle. I appreciate reading that. I need to know that successful WLS folks have to work to keep on track - it just doesn't come inherently with the territory.
I should just stay out of the ice cream isle.
People who don't do WLS have no idea (I know I didn't) that those of us who have had WLS STILL have to make the right decisions over and over again -
A no crust pizza??? Neat.

That absolutely makes sense.
Like a drug - a little creates a sense of withdrawal and then when we stop, a craving builds, and that increases and grows. But, if you don't have it at all the craving isn't likely to be triggered.
No, I know exactly what you mean and I'm glad to hear you speak of it as I want that reminder.
This is why it helps to pass up the cookies/treats/sugary things rather than just "have a little".
hug appreciated,
A.

Dear JEllen,
You are hysterical!!!
I love icecream. I am actually having some light coffee flavored right now and I know I should just be having celery - but alas, celery isn't "staking" me!!!! Oh my goodness, the PUNS!!!!
I think it is really cool (actually really hot) that you put the icecream in the sink and ran ho****er over it. So now the vanilla is very appropriately concerned. Wow, I'm telling my unhealthy food you might stop by for an unexpected visit at any time!!!
you make me

Topic: 6 months out now
I visited my doctor yesterday and he is pleased with my results over 90lbs down so far hooray. I got some good advice about eating. I was so focused on not overeating until I was under eating. I was very upset a few weeks ago when I went through a halt in weight loss. Well turns out I was not eating enough and I was putting my body into starvation mode. I kept getting advice about overeating or snacking to much and that was not my case. I was advice to get 1,200 calories a day. Well I was averaging between 600 to 900 calories a day.
Mostly because I have really lost my appetite and it's really hard for me to sit down and eat yeah even at six months. I started subbing meals for shakes thinking I was doing the right thing but My Doc told me to stop that if I want to achieve a healthy weight. So now a girl who loved to overeat, could eat all day, is having to force herself to complete a meal. Well for anyone else that this maybe happening to. Don't get so over conscious about food that you don't eat and wonder why the weight is not coming off.
I must say I am much happier and fell so much more confident. This was the best decision I ever made.

Hi everyone! I'm new to the group and saw this opportunity to post a little blip about myself so I thought I would.
I had RNY surgery on 3/16/10, exactly two weeks after my husband Mark had his RNY surgery. We have both done very well, and already have so much more energy and feel so much better. Of course somedays it feels like all the extra weight will never come off but I have to keep reminding myself of the short time it's been. LOL
We have a daughter Katie who is 13 (going on 21), a golden retriever named Ginger and a cat named Pepper. We live on about 14 1/2 acres in Michigan on what was an old apple orchard so yard work keeps us busy this time of year. But it's something we love to do - especially now that we have the energy to!
I work as a Director of Finance at an engineering firm and Mark works from home full time as a mainframe systems manager for Bank of America. He loves to cook, he does the laundry, etc., etc. I don't know how the heck I got so lucky to find him!
So, that's the quick and dirty version of "me". I truly look forward to getting to know the people in this group.

Topic: RE: Sharing with the Main Board, hope I got it right
I too want to say thanks for your post on the main boards. I often get frustrated and/or feel bad about many of the posts I see. This is a "support" site and many comments seems so critical of others? I don't know, maybe it's just me. But I can say that I'm so excited to join a group that I don't have to worry about posting questions on. There have been times when I have made comments or posts on the mainboard fully expected to be criticized.
I feel so much better being here already! LOL
