What would failure to lose weight be caused by?

I have been attending some great WL meetings and working with at my doctors office coaching patients.  I had someone ask me yesterday that had recent WLS "What would failure to lose weight be caused by?"  "And why are people not successful that have WLS?"

I told her by overeating, not following a plan, not getting involved with a WLS community, not attending meetings that are available to her and following tools that are available for her to be successful.

One of the best responses I heard today and it just reminded me that I have to remember this too.  That my WLS is a tool, it is about portion control.  It will not stop putting junk food into your mouth, nor will it drive you to the gym.  Your head needs to be in the fame and set realistic expectations - everyone is different and has different physch and emotional issues to deal with.  Most of us are food addicts.

I know today, by following a plan of action provided by my doctor, getting involved in a weekly live WL meeting and listening to you guys and what you said worked, if you work it.  WORKED!  For that I am forever grateful.

So True...

as so many others have said...

WLS is NOT Brain surgery... it doesn't fix what is going on in our heads that drives us to overeat. IF we could fix that... then we wouldn't have a problem ever again after surgery. However, no one has come up with that solution as yet....

EDUCATION on WLS is extremely helpful however, so that we as INDIVIDUALs can detect when we are STARTING to let old habits crawl back in.

I too, am forever grateful for my RNY and ---
the wonderful team at Ellis Bariatrics.

I did this last night.

It works if you work it and it don't if you don't.  Like I said in that other post...it takes a bit of effort every day to avoid a bunch of effort after regain.  BUT if you do regain, you can fix it like Molly is.  I'm so proud of her!
