Good News and it Happened so Fast

About 3 or 4 days ago my naval stopping leaking fluids completely. I woke up in the morning and when I went to change my bandage nothing was on it, I was thinking it was a slow down but it stopped completely, There was redness around my naval and the skin around it was swollen and large. Yesterday I could see the redness and swelling were going down and today I have only the slightest redness and swelling.

I have been drinking at least 80 ounces of water (warmer weather) and I am getting all my vitamins and protein down.  I dumped the protein shots that had collagen. I am eating and drinking the right stuff. I am still sticking to the 1 ounce rule about eating but that means I eat 8 times a day including snacks.

Finally I am able to walk more instead of waiting for a good day. My friend Diane works at home and we are making a commitment start walking at least 30 minutes a day.

The best thing about this is I am feeling almost like before surgery. I am hypo-manic which means my energy level has gone way up and I am moving around my house all the time,  Some of my walking involves thrift store shopping. Wanting to get out I have visited 3 in a row walking down each and every row. I  am not taking naps anymore but around 8 pm my body reminds me I recently had surgery and I am wiped out completely. I can't keep my eyes open and go to bed.

I have already completed three of my goals. I can put my shoes on with ease and can get on the floor and get back up. My knees and back are much better and I have dropped my prescription  pain medication. I think the 23 pounds I lost were the sticks that broke the camels back.

Well my friends I am happy to join my peers. I don't know if I have lost any weight because my husband has our scale in the trunk of his car. I well weigh in at the next support meeting.

Oh Diana That is just Awesome!!! I am so sorry you've had such a hard time of it! I really did sail through my rny surgery but my Total Hip replacement (06/02/09) I did NOT.  As you get better the bad days will be a distant memory, and the good days will become the norm. But for now as the Jellenator mentioned Don't over do it. And if a day comes that you need it, use your persciption pain meds.

oh and why does your husband keep the scale in his car?

I'm ecstatic you are doing better!!!  I have missed you sooooooooooo much and I know it's all good from here.  OK... one question.  Why does your husband have the scales in his trunk?  I'm guessing I know but I just wanted to make sure!
So glad you're back and getting better sweetie!!!
hugs, Y

My husband sold our scale a couple years back because I was obsessing over it. I would hop on a couple times a DAY. I promised him when I had  WLS I wouldn't do that. So far so good.

What an wonderful moment - no drainage on the bandage!!  The redness and swelling finally improving.  Your nightmare is over and you are waking up to the dream you had before it all started - the GOOD dream.  I am so glad to hear this.  You have been so strong through it all.
Isn't it great to be down enough in weight that your knees feel better!!
