WLS Success-through Powerful Positive Attitudes
6 months out now
I visited my doctor yesterday and he is pleased with my results over 90lbs down so far hooray. I got some good advice about eating. I was so focused on not overeating until I was under eating. I was very upset a few weeks ago when I went through a halt in weight loss. Well turns out I was not eating enough and I was putting my body into starvation mode. I kept getting advice about overeating or snacking to much and that was not my case. I was advice to get 1,200 calories a day. Well I was averaging between 600 to 900 calories a day.
Mostly because I have really lost my appetite and it's really hard for me to sit down and eat yeah even at six months. I started subbing meals for shakes thinking I was doing the right thing but My Doc told me to stop that if I want to achieve a healthy weight. So now a girl who loved to overeat, could eat all day, is having to force herself to complete a meal. Well for anyone else that this maybe happening to. Don't get so over conscious about food that you don't eat and wonder why the weight is not coming off.
I must say I am much happier and fell so much more confident. This was the best decision I ever made.

Tarcia... It is a learning process... don't beat up on yourself.
Some days are better than others. I found that some days I do better with getting in the right amount of fluids and other days not so much.-
This continues to be an issue for me- resulting in CONstipation!
So.... I need to be aware and DO get in my fluids.
Some days I do better getting in required amount of protein...
some days- not so much. Then I feel tired out and wonder why my energy level is Low...
Same thing with Vitamins. Although- for the MOST part... I must say this is the one area that I've had consistently the MOST success.
So... do your best girl and you WILL reach your goal!
We are here for you!

I only have a minute here, and I suppose I could run to your profile and read all about you, Tarcia, but i just don't have time - so sorry!
I just wanted to offer what I think is really good advice for anyone who's at 6 months. After I passed the seven month mark, my weight loss slowed waaaaay down. Now, at nearly one year, I am only losing about a pound a month. I was shocked! I remember when I was losing like crazy, people would ask - how will you know how to stop it? Frankly, I worried a little bit about that, myself. Now I know that real question is - how can you keep it going until you reach your goal? And I'm not to goal yet. I still have 25 pounds to go. But the way to keep it in gear, (even if you're losing slowly, at least you're still losing, right?) is to get in the gym or hit the streets and get that new little bod moving. Develop those habits that are going to make you successful over the long term - so that when life is normal-ish and your eating habits are normal-ish, your workout ethic is superduper-ish.
Once the weight loss is achieved, the only way to keep the new lifestyle going is through exertion. I really believe that. And surprise, surprise - guess who turned out to be something of a gym rat? Me! I'd never have believed it before.
So that's it. That's my advice. Work it out, babe!

I'm soooooooooooooo proud of you!! I'm also really happy that you've got such a great doc. I didn't realize how you were eating when you were talking about a stall. My bad for not asking more questions. It is true about the starvation mode thing and that's why I push so hard for everyone to eat breakfast (or a shake) because that is usually the way most of us send our bodies straight into that. I loved what you said about "now a girl who loved to overeat is forcing herself to complete a meal". WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! 90 lbs in 6 months is awesome!!
