Cat Talk....OT

I posted before that the morning of my surgery I found my beloved cat "Kitty" deceased on the floor in laundy room.  I was a MESS - and I haven't really had the chane to mourn him.  Well, the last couple of days I have been feeling sad and really missing him  

So today - this cat shows up in the neighborhood with the EXACT same coloring and markings as my cat.  He was across the street skulking around.  I walked over and he came right up to me.  Meowed. Rubbed on m legs.  I scooped him up.  The kids came out.  Well we all are in love.  I mean I know he might belong to someone and I have called the police station to see if anyone reported a lost cat (it's a small city) .....he seems so well care for.  We would love to keep him around and see if we can locate his owners.  however, my dh won't hear of it.

10 yrs ago I had to beg him to let me take in "Kitty"...he was straying around and was sickly.  I put ad in the paper - called local vets - police advertising that I had found him.  NO one claimed him.  So he stayed and was MY cat.

UPDATE - cat's owner came over to see if he was a bother.  He just lives a few houses down across the street.  She just got him a week ago - so that's why I have not seen him before.  I wanted to tell her she should keep him INSIDE...but I am going to Mind my own business.  My kitty was inside - never let him out.  Too many bad things can happen to them.

   I'm so sorry to hear about your Kitty. I have always been a mess after losing a cat. They are my babies and I take it quite hard. My two boys are definitely indoor kitties. I live in town and there are at least 5 cats in the neighbor hood now that roam around and I don't want them hurt.
Hang in there.... It will get better.

I tried to look at the picture but I couldn't.  I am so upset when cats go outside.  We live near a park called Coyote Park and there's a reason.  Not too many cats roaming here.  I did manage to find 2 litters of kittens and capture them so at one time I had 9 kittens in 3 different places in my house.  It was incredibly hard to try to find homes and 2 of the black ones were returned.  The lady said they wouldn't come near her but when I went to pick them up they RAN to me and put their front legs around my neck.  I'm so screwed.   For now I have my own 5 cats and 1 dog and the 2 black cats.  One girl, one boy.  The girl is tiny and the boy is big.  Easy to tell apart.

I'm sorry about your DH not liking the idea.  Even with so many here it's sort of a rule that if ones goes away due to death, there's a spot open...technically.  I don't have to look.  There are so many animals.  When I had 4 of the 9 left I collected $500 for a rescue to take them and they couldn't because they were too full.  The mortgage situation has made it balloon.  So....if by any chance you could ever talk your husband into 2 black cats, I'd find a way to get them to you.  I wish you could take that baby off the streets but you'd have a couple people not so happy with that.

Dh just isn't a cat person!   I am not going to push the issue with him righ at this particular time.  Hopefully another kitty may come into my life later down the road.......

I haven't seen the neighbor kitty out anymore THANK GOD.  I did finally take him home and told her that she should reconsider letting him out - not safe for him.
