WLS Success-through Powerful Positive Attitudes
The Queen of My Recliner Domain
Well here I am home and doing much better. My husband rented a medical recliner so I can get up and down easy and it is also great for sleeping.
I can eat, drink and take my vitamins easily. Never had any nausea at all. I am actually hungry and trying to invent recipes friendly to WLS. I have 5 pudding flavors that are only 2 ounces and contain benefiber, miralax, splenda, protein powder to equal 113 grams. I put 2 ounces in tiny containers and freeze a total of 6. These are really good. Later I will put a small graham cracker at the bottom and call them pies.
My husband has taken care of every need including showering me, drying me, dressing me and getting all of my food and water. he brings me my vitamins and pills on schedule. He makes me about 3 or 4 mugs of decaf tea every day and knows what I need before I need it. While my stomach was swollen and I couldn't reach he even wiped me. I was so glad I didn't have a BM until after I could reach. I think my husband chose the wrong profession,
I guess I should have asked someone to be my angel so they could have gotten word to you sooner that I had a little set back. I know lots of members from this area.
So I am doing great and am Queen of my domain. I'll be back soon.
Thanks for your concern and best wishes.

Well we are all certainly glad you're OK. We enacted a law since you went missing and I think we should call it the Wonderling Angel Act. or WAA! No more members without angels!
I fell in love with my recliner (sorry DH) and didn't want to get out of it. It's a good thing I didn't have anything electric or I wouldn't have ever gone back to the bed!
Hey when you make one of those pies I want pictures!! Get some rest sweetie and now I'm going to catch up on the board and make a report about Suzy.
So glad you're back!!!!!!!!!!!
hugs, Y

Don't forget to move around and keep that blood flowing. You might want to get up to get your own vitamins and mugs of tea just for the excuse. ON the OTHER hand, I forget you had to have the open procedure and that is a lot harder to recover from. It is a delight to hear about your support. I can attest that it gets even easier to reach too after you lose some weight.
OK, the frozen pudding things have 113 grams of protein in 2 ounces?? Wow.
Love the idea of the graham cracker at the bottom.

Anne I really appreciate your advice. It is a source of great support. I know what I need to do but without someone that knows and reminds you it is easy to become lax. I do need to move about but today that isn't so hard. My husband is out of town so I have to make the cups of tea and do more for myself.
To me the lap incisions hurt more than the open. I feel like a turtle upside because the lap incisions are what is keeping me from moving side to side. The binder is a must and it gives pressure to the area and if you have to cough you don't ever want to take it off. They told me at the hospital if you want to eliminate some of the pain adding pressure helps.
I had a hysterectomy and cesarean on the same cut line and I didn't take care of myself and as a result I have too much scare tissue (one reason for the open). I had a toddler and infant so it was pretty hard to take it easy.
Today I have to take care of myself. My husband is out of town but he sent me a dozen roses for our 26th wedding annivarsary.

Diana, I had Open too! Mine was because it was so long ago. I am a scar tissue queen also. I'm so glad you've got that binder on....it is truly a miracle device.
What a wonderful anniversary present...surgery and roses!
Feel better!!

Glad to hear you are home and doing better. I can't imagine having an open procedure so kudos to you my dear for making it through and keeping up the postive attitude. Sounds like you are taking good care of yourself and doing what your supposed to and that is the total key to feeling good after the surgery. Take care and keep us posted..HUGS Katie
