I need to stay off the main board...

I'm smiling when I read these posts because it just reminds me why I am here again!  POWERFUL POSITIVE ATTITUDES  (LOVE YOU YVONNE)

I so remember the times when I could feel steam coming out of my ears, my nostrils flaring and my face turning red because the posts on the main board would upset me that much.  I just wanted to tell people to Stop throwing sand in the sand box!  Can't we all just play nice??

I left the main board for some of the same reasons you have mentioned and seriously thought I would never be back.

I love giving back and being a positive part of my fellow WLS journey's.  I feel like this board is truly a blessing for all of us and it's so nice to enjoy logging on again!

Have a great day~

It is exactly these sort of posts that nearly took me off of OH forever, thanks to Yvonne and the other members of this group, I am thankfully still here.  I do still peruse the main board occassionally. I do have to say I find it so very interesting that many of  those that offer their strong oppinions usually have a private profile. Makes you wonder .........

Exactly!  I think that tells more than they realize.  I suspect that if we could see into their world that we would see why they are so angry.  One of my favorite blog posts is how "what others think of us is none of our business".  It was a hard lesson for me to learn.  Like I said, I go to the main board from time to time to help someone I can help.  I rarely post late in a thread because any threads that get long are almost always nasty.  Thanks everyone for your kind words.  If and when you are somewhere else on OH and you see someone that needs this group, please invite them.  I love our family here and would love to see more get to take advantage of it.
Big hugs my love, Y

This is exactly why I don't venture out to the main board too often.

When my husband was in deployed, everything on the news kept me upset and worried.   I finally decided that I won't put my head in the sand and hide, but I am not going to purposely subject myself to that kind of upset.    I will read about it on the news site, and if it is something I need to find out more about, then I will look into it.

When I was trying to understand my surgery, I was looking in all different places for answers, and someone suggested OH.   At first I liked it, then the arguments took their toll.   I decided the same as I did with deployment and news, that I would read some things and leave others behind.   I still go to the Main board sometimes, but I have found that I just don't enjoy it over there.

I am involved in this group and two others, and right now, they are all very positive and just what I need.    I hope that more people will tell others about this group, as Molly did me.

Molly is awesome and so are you sweetie.  I am so glad you came here.  I think you are very insightful and I so admire you for bravery....being married to someone who is fighting for our country.  Bless your heart.

I too try to stay away from the main board.  I read posts on it from time to time, but pretty much refrain from posting as I have been attacked for merely asking a question.

I was afraid to write anything on the main board for months!  I did learn a lot though from the level headed vets.  However, I also learned that some old timers (not the level headed ones) can be very judgmental towards newer members and hyper critical to boot.  I did post one statement a couple of weeks ago (my first initiation of a discussion ever) and received an unprecedented 24 positive supportive comments; well, all supportive, but some suggesting I handle the situation in what I would call a negative manner that just perpetuates bad karma in the world.
I just saw this site today through a friends posting.
What a relief to write from the heart without intending to offend anyone and know I won't get jumped on anyway

Hey Anne!!
So glad you're here!! I totally understand what you mean.  Please feel free to pass the word.  This is a safe haven and you've got a long time vet (me!) and pre-ops and newly post-ops and post-ops that are back on track and all kinds of people.  I so relate to the bad karma thing.  I had enough of that after 30 years of obesity and now it's time to live!  Be happy!  Practice an attitude of gratitude and help support others that may be going through a tough time.  AND if you are living by a lake, I'm so wanting to do be right there!
WELCOME!!!
hugs, Y

p.s. Did someone post about the group or was it in their signature? I'd love to know!

A friend whose on line name is "wonderling" (if I remember correctly without checking) posted a discussion topic on this forum and just joined the site herself.  Everyone who is listed as "a friend" who starts a discussion has this message listed when I go to the "My OH" page. I go there every day to see what the folks I am familiar with are talking about.  I saw her posting, clicked on it, read it and tried to respond.  Then the notice showed up about needing to "join the site".   That is how I learned there was this separate forum.

I do live by a lake.  The largest lake in the world and it is called "Lake Superior".  I am in Duluth Minnesota.
