Fake it 'til you make it.

Your life has changed dramatically in a short period of time. Whereas your days prior to surgery probably consisted more of survival techniques than anything else, your life post surgery embraces new opportunities.

Do you treat your new life as an opportunity or as a challenge? Do you face each moment with hope? Do you encourage yourself with words like, "I am getting better every day in every way?"  Do you face each moment with confidence knowing that each challenge you overcome makes you stronger and healthier?  Resolve to believe in your abilities today.

Action for the day: Today is a "fake-it-'til-you-make-it" day. Act as if you are confident and hopeful. Sometimes this new attitude takes quite a bit of practice, but eventually you WILL make it.

I have had a lifetime of faking it and now I am doing something so good for myself that I want each day to be real. I will not hide anymore. I will learn to love myself. I am so blessed to have this opportunity and I will not waste a day of it.

I feel so good today. I am counting the hours now instead of the days. I am so ready. I have packed and unpacked. I have added things and taken them back out. I want to take everything that will fit in my small suitcase. Others say I will have no need for the things I want to bring. I am planning on racing around the nurses station wearing my IPOD. My suitcase by the way is a little girls and is a bright blue and is covered with colorful butterflies.

Oh Diana, you make me want to cry.  You know what I did? I made one of those construction paper chain link things with a link for each day.  It was bright red paper and I tore one off every morning with the excitement of a kid waiting for Santa Claus.  My attitude was exactly like yours.  I swore that if I was just given one more chance to be in the driver's seat that I would NOT mess it up.  I have kept that promise and part of the reason that I've been able to is because I am so intent on paying it forward.  When I am here sharing my experience with others it keeps me out of my head and when I'm out of my head I'm not stressing and wanting to self medicate with food.  I'm so glad you found us!!  I think if someone looked at my iPod they'd think it must belong to several people!  I'm a classical Cellist but I like hard rock too and a lot in between.  I love Celtic music when I do yoga.  I can't wait to see you on the other side Diana.  I'm sending big cyber hugs.
hugs, Y
