WLS Success-through Powerful Positive Attitudes
Ok It's me AGAIN - Totally TMI TMI TMI TMI
I've been wanting to address this particular concern of mine, but just didn't know how or where...but I feel comfortable addressing it right here. I hope I don't offend anyone....
Bathroom TMI. After #2 it's sometimes like a sporting event to clean up. I guess THAT will be my most FAVORITE thing to change after I lose a good amount of weight. Anyhow - I am scared to death of what it's going to be like after the surgery. If it's hard for me to do it NOW....I cannot imagine having to do it THEN with all the pain....
Can any relate??

ok.... so immediately after the surgery honestly there is some pain... some have more than others... especially on the left side.
the reason for that is due to the fact that the larger instrument that does most of the manupulating is placed on the left side.
(carefully watch Big Medicine surgical scenes... you will take notice of that)
Hopefully, if you have done pre-op diet.... liquid diet required by doctor - Medi-Fast or some imposed by yourself plus a cleanse routine days before your surgery you will basically be EMPTY! Nothing to worry about having to pass any amount of stool for a bit... nothing in... nothing out... SIMPLE
That being said...
Here's the kicker...
Be aware of the deadly GAS!
During surgery they use gas to enlarge the area they are working on so they can see what is going on in there. Also while in hospital you are given a bunch of IV Fluids... Please note you may come home from the hospital weighing MORE than when you went in.
Don't panic that weight will come off rather quickly...
As I mentioned the gas has a very strong odor.... once you start on liquids and finally back on puree to soft foods you will start to have bms again. They can be loose - not well formed. don't be concerned.. in time this will regulate and things get better.... you may even have to use caution in NOT getting constipated. I wouldn't suggest taking strong laxatives but if you run into a problem perhaps a suppository... since that doesn't contact the part of the bowel that has been altered... and is healing.
Just remember: THIS TOO SHALL PASS!
in the meantime you may want to pick up some Wet Wipes- it just makes things easier....

Yep JEllen said it best. Since I was totally cleaned out there was nothing solid to come out. When something finally did it was super loose. Your doc will make sure you take something so that you aren't constipated after surgery but like JEllen (Judy) said, you will be on liquids for a while and you will be well healed before you have to worry about that stuff OK?
No such thing as worrying about asking about TMI, that's what we're here for!
