Wanna see something funny?

The recent thread about body fat reminded me of something I got persuaded to do!  I hope it makes you laugh a little.  I was told to show up at this place with a bathing suit on and that it will be on TV later that week.  Very scary words to tell a formerly obese girl that didn't even own a bathing suit for 30 years.  The little cap was not my best look either!

If we don’t put our efforts into creating what we want, then we have to put our efforts into coping with what we get!

Like my darlin' Judy said (aka JEllenator), the more you post the better.  Jump in and say anything at any time.  I also want everyone to know that it's not just the good stuff either.  We are here to address all aspects of our lives...the good, the bad and the ugly.  The only thing I cannot deal with is bullies and name calling.  If someone is feeling down I want them to feel like they can talk about it.  In fact I think I'll have a sticky thread (meaning it stays at the top) at some point that is about support for when you feel like eating and you don't want to.  I'd also love to plan some chats.  Anyone can use the chat board if they'd like anyway but I'd love to actually plan a time.  Thanks Annette!!

They should have given you a hot pink cap to match your top!

or they could have told you to wear RED!!!

.... anyhow.... very neat stuff.  years ago I had some gadget that they hook up to both feet and it gives a tiny charge and is supposed to tell you how much fat you have... Forgot what the thing is called but this seems even more accurate than that. Maybe I'll google the bod pod and see if any of the spas around here have it...

But I don't know if I'm mentally ready for that kind of info yet!!!

I KNOW!!! Truly I don't get too involved with that stuff.  I'm more all about the scales and how everything looks.  I usually have pretty muscular arms from yoga and I've had to cut back a bit because I think I have a bone spur in my right shoulder.  When someone tells me a body fat percentage it doesn't really compute to anything in my mind because it still looks however it looks you know?  The lady that did the story tried to adjust the cap to help me out because nobody looks good in that cap!  The bod pod was going to be expensive too so if you really want to know your body fat...use the calipers.  They are close enough for government work!

I'll tell you how sensitive it is.  The first time I did it the reading was 16% and then I swigged a bunch of water.  Just that little bit of liquid changed it by 1%.  I actually took a picture of it!  I was fairly excited but mostly because the guy that was running the test looked so shocked.  I had no idea what I was walking into that morning.  The funny thing is that I never lift weights.  I just do yoga but it made a better story I guess.
