WLS Success-through Powerful Positive Attitudes
New member Gordinha!
In the introduction our new member Gordinha talked about something she was concerned with and here is that paragraph. (Hey she's from Brazil)
So I am set for my laparoscopic RNY gastric bypass on Jan, 7th, 2010. So far I am dealing with it pretty okay. No fears whatsoever. My biggest issue is that because my Dutch is not that good I can't really go into a support group in here and living so far away from my family and close friends might be a problem on the first days/weeks of "what have I done?" feeling. And that's why I am trying to search this support in the internet.
I wanted to use this opportunity to explain to others that aren't aware of exactly what's going on when we go through that phase. Since we used food to self medicate for so long and since we are in a little discomfort after surgery, we want to reach for the food. Since we cannot reach for food, we get into the withdrawal feelings of being irritable, restless and discontent. I didn't actually go through it and it might have been because there was no aftercare to tell me that I would. Anyway, I wanted to explain those feelings for those that weren't aware of why we go throught that.
hugs, Y

Yvonne, now I understand when you mentioned you wanted to quote what I said. Some things do happen like that, if you don't know about it, you don't feel it. I remember when I was 6 and got chicken pox. Everyone would com e to me and ask "is it itching a lot?" and I would answer "no, it's fine". After some time, it DID start itching... LOL
JEllen, that is correct spelling but it's Spanish, in Brazil we speak portuguese and that would be: "Minha casa é a sua casa"
Thanks for the warm welcome. It's been crazy busy at work, not much time left for Forum talk but I will try to show up more often and in any case when I am recovering after surgery you will for sure see me A LOT.
